Amazon Will No Longer Use Single-Use Plastic Materials in India

Amazon indicated that it will no longer use single-use plastic materials at fulfillment centers across India. The e-commerce giant will not use bubble wrap or air pillows to cushion packages before delivery, and instead, it will use paper or biodegradable materials. Amazon states that the change will take effect before the end of June.

Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, stated that the country will transition away from plastic materials by the year 2022. Amazon’s efforts will help in part to achieve this goal. If the transition process is successful the e-commerce company may attempt may take similar sustainable action in other markets that it operates in.

Previously Amazon participated in recycling incentives and investing resources into clean energy projects.
