Shoes that Break the Silence by Antonio Paucar Represents Life

The Shoes that Break the Silence sculpture takes the form of a disintegrating man. Yet there is more than meets the eye when it comes to this installation. While the 'material' used to create the striking sculpture may disgust most, it is undeniable that its use will equally captivate them as well. For those who can't take the suspense anymore, the sculpture was made out of dead flies.

Put together by Antonio Paucar, an artist that was born in Huancayo, Peru, and based in Berlin, Germany, the Shoes that Break the Silence sculpture may be assumed to represent death or decay, but Inquiringmind writer Ashlyn Elizabeth believes it is a depiction of life. She writes, "The suspended flies hang in a cursory likeness of a person, acting as evidence of existence. The aesthetic found in the normally unsightly incident of death is brought to a different light in these installations."
