Encrypted Workplace Messages

The Shhlack App Ensures Private Conversations Through Slack

Slack, the messaging service used by tens of thousands of organizations, currently allows for employers to view the data and communications of its employees but the Shhlack app puts the power back in the employee's hands with end-to-end encryption. Developed by security consulting firm Minded Security, this app allows users to chat with one another in a direct and encrypted way through the use of encryption keys. Those that attempt to view the conversations without a key, be it an employer or malicious individual, will just see a string of jumbled text.

While encrypted chat tools do already exist, the Shhlack app distinguishes itself from its competitors through its ease of use. Once installed, the app will put a lock icon next to the message box and can be simply clicked, or opened using Alt+S, to send an encrypted message. However, in order for both users to receive encrypted messages, they will both need the Shhlack app to decrypt encrypted messages.
