British architecture firm Weston, Surman and Deane was contracted by a writer (who chose to be kept anonymous) to construct their dream writer’s shed. The writer’s shed was built on a $51,000 budget in London, England.
The writer’s shed has a brilliant design inside and out. A porch welcomes you to a glazed sliding glass door which then leads you to the interior. The cedar screen surrounding the shed allows light in and out while an additional skylight faces north which provides plenty of natural light for the workspace during the day. A wood burning stove heats the shed during the colder months of the year and the rest of the wall is used for storage as well as a small functional sink. Even a small washroom was included in the writer’s shed.
The writer’s shed is a great idea for someone who needs their own space to work while also maintaining a connection to a more urban center. If you have the cash for one of these bad boys it could easily replace the effort of "getting away" in order to have some privacy.
