AI-Powered Ordering Kiosks

KFC and Alibaba are Introducing Next-Gen Self-Ordering Kiosks

Self-ordering kiosks are now fairly commonplace at various quick-service restaurants but KFC is now introducing the future of food-ordering digital kiosks. At Alibaba Cloud's 2018 Computing Conference in Hangzhou, KFC and Alibaba launched an AI-powered self-ordering digital kiosk that gives consumers a new and highly efficient way to navigate and order from KFC's menu. These new kiosks are set to reduce wait times and improve operational efficiency.

KFC has been experimenting with a number of high-tech ordering solutions, including a Smile to Pay facial recognition payment system, which has now been implemented in hundreds of restaurants. Another new innovation is KFC's first fully automated dessert station in Suzhou, which has consumers scan a QR code and select an ice cream flavor to be served to them in a cone by a robotic arm.
