Sam Schmidt is doing something that no other race car driver has done. Sam will be competing in the 2014 Indianapolis 500 Festival, but not as any ordinary driver. Sam will be driving his customized Corvette Stingray through the use of his head motions and teeth gnashing.
We've all heard the term breakneck speed, but in 2000 we saw it in action. Sam was left as a paraplegic, but it didn't break his spirit. Sam is about ready to get back on the track and he's going to do it in spectacular fashion.
The Stingray has sensors and cameras built-in which read his head motions, helping him turn the car. To speed up he tilts his head backward and to slow down or break he bites down on a sensor in his mouth guard.
