The Rock Shoe was Made for a Woman with Feet Planted Firmly on the Ground

Practically speaking, the Rock shoe would make walking around rather difficult. This unusual and abstract footwear design was not, however, made to be a functional; it was created as Shoe Sculpture No. 12 within Sebastian Errazuriz's series entitled 12 Shoes for 12 Lovers.

This particular pair of pumps was inspired by a lady that the artist has called Alice. She was a very down-to-earth character with her feet planted in reality. She seemed rational and all-knowing when it came to matters of her relationship with Erraxuriz, apparently having made accurate predictions about its beginning and its end.

Modeled on a jagged stone, the Rock shoe embodies a poetic idea that ironically makes it beautiful to observe and appreciate philosophically, but challenging to use in the real world.
