We need more inventions that make people laugh. But what about funny inventions that also make people feel uncomfortable? Japanese robot makers have created a female humanoid robot alongside a plush dog robot that sniff people’s feet or breath – to evaluate and react accordingly!
These robots make reactions that can go from good to snarky to hurtful to embarrassing. Regardless, these reactions are credible; both the girl robot and the dog are equipped with an odor sensor that rate what they smell.
Both robots assess what they smell and react in four different ways. The smell can either be good, a bit bad, bad or extremely bad. The girl spits out verbal comments like "Yuck! You have bad breath" while the dog may just bark or lose consciousness.
Manufacturer CrazyLabo thought of this idea after Japan’s catastrophic earthquake; he wanted robots that could make people laugh in times of chaos. He collaborated with the Kitakyushu National College of Technology to bring this nifty concept to life.
