Motoi Yamamoto has produced another amazing salt installation with 'Return to the Sea: Saltworks.' His intricate piece of art can now be viewed in a more up-close setting in this documentary-style video.
Known for his work utilizing salt to create wondrous giant installations, Japanese artist Yamamoto has done it again. Using only salt and the floor in which he creates his work, Yamamoto spends countless hours developing his work; the results are astounding.
His latest work can be viewed from an upper deck that overlooks the entire piece, and is showing in the College of Charleston's Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art. The show is free and and will be on tour in Los Angeles, Charlotte and Monterey. Upon the completion of each show, all of the salt is literally returned to the sea.
