Retrofuturs Integrates Graphic Fonts into His Retro Photography

In his series entitled 'Elements,' photographer Stéphane Massa-Bidal, aka Retrofuturs, infuses typography with his retro photography of landscapes to create collage-styled scenery captures.

Bold and graphic, the font used is dramatic in comparison with the strikingly crisp images, sometimes becoming a part of the background and other times integrating itself into the foreground. Images of cliffs, rivers, cloudy skies and soaring structures are all subtitled with literal, single term interpretations such as earth, water, stone and air. The result is a deeper insight into the landscapes and scenery images that the photographer has chosen to share with the viewer, creating a self-explanatory body of artistic work.

The retro photography by Retrofuturs features captivating landscapes that are made even more interesting and thought-provoking due to the overlay and interaction of typographic elements.
