The Retro Dial Mobile is a Flashback Contemporary Phone

Touchscreen technology is dominating the world of cellphones, but along with consumer complaints regarding such finicky interfaces come concepts like the Retro Dial mobile phone.

Merging the tactile quality of an old rotary telephone with contemporary functions, this handset references the precursor to buttons, and encourages greater interaction between user and gadget. The circular keypad makes it very difficult to input the incorrect number, but should one wish to switch to the alphanumeric controls, they can be found around the dial's perimeter, and in the form of a QWERTY keyboard that slides out from the back of the cellphone.

Designed by Mukund K. P., the Retro Dial mobile phone may harken to simpler days and devices, but the very feature that appears the most dated houses a technology that allows the user to turn mechanical energy in its use into power to charge the smartphone.
