Hats Designed with Found and Altered Objects

Samsara Design is a Chicago based millinery company. Their slogan is "the rebirth of hats" which is evident in their overall aesthetic. Repurposing the roll and look of hats with designs that transcend time, style and sex.

They use interesting materials, often organic, ie bone, teeth, hair, fur, feathers, shells etc and then alter them with gold leaf, or plastic dips. They maintain a clean balanced look even with the often conflicting pieces.

Most hats in this gallery lean to the more feminine (since modeled by women) but check out the website to see more mens and unisex.

Also there is a blog associate with Samsara Design that shows many of her newer projects and designs in a variety of stages. samsaradesign.tumblr.com
