The newly redesigned Lyft app now places an emphasis on shared rides and public transit. This new look for the app is focused on improving shared rides and will also integrate with public transit in an attempt to fill the first-mile and last-mile gaps in transportation. The newly redesigned Lyft app will also make the price and time comparison more apparent to users.

By the end of 2020 Lyft is aiming to have shared rides account for 50 percent of trips so Lyft has decided to unveil its Lyft Shared Rides feature. The app will now also work seamlessly with local public transit in 25 US cities. Lyft does plan on expanding this public transit feature but for now, it will only be available in the US and will begin with Marin County and Santa Monica, California.
