The Red-Crested Tree Rat Has Emerged After Over a Century

Ladies and gentlemen, the Red Crested Tree Rat has finally resurfaced after 113 years of hiding! The discovery was made at the El Dorado Nature Reserve in Columbia.

The South American rodent is approximately the size of a guinea pig and is copper in colour. The Red Crested Tree Rat has been a creature of mystery ever since its last recorded sighting way back in 1898. In fact, animal experts have even toyed with the idea of eliminating the rat's classification as a species entirely, due to its lengthy disappearance.

Very little has ever been recorded about the Red Crested Tree Rat and so this discovery at El Dorado is very monumental and undoubtedly uplifting news for many animal lovers!
