Recycled Skateboard Trophies

These Epic Trophies are for a Skateboard Charity Event

The guys at Deckstool decided to do this recycled skateboard trophy for something a little different this year when it came time for the annual donation to SkateFest / Sk8 for a Cause in Fairfax, VA. Rather than give products to be raffled as they had in previous years, they decided to design and build custom recycled skateboard trophies for the event.

"It ended up being alot of work in a short time, but our goal was to help get more people excited about this event," says Jason Podlaski of Deckstool. He explains, "More people attending and participating ultimately means more money raised for Sk8 for a Cause, and that’s what really matters."

The trophy design is almost completely made from repurposed broken skateboards. The top half is a 3D version of the SkateFest logo precision cut by Deckstool craftsman from skateboard fragments. The base is a laminated block of solid seven ply maple strips, sanded and lacquered to a buttery smooth finish. The logo element is attached to the base using steel rods of varying height for first, second and third place. Trophies were made for every event and age division. 41 trophies were awarded in all. Each trophy is a rad piece of skate art intended to commemorate each skaters’ victory forever.
