Nestlé pledged to make its packaging 100% sustainable by 2025 and the first step in this direction is a fully recyclable paper candy wrapper. Utilizing a "high-speed flow wrap technology," this new venture in packaging will allow for the wrapper to be processed post-consumption as regular paper waste.
When developing the eco-conscious production initative, Nestlé operated with a few principles in mind to avoid any mishap in implementation. The recyclable paper candy wrapper was made to be "sturdy enough to survive high-speed production flows." It also had to exhibit a high degree of function in terms of prolonging the shelf life of the product on par with the ability of its plastic-dependent predecessors.
The new packaging will be first utilized for Nestlé's YES! snack bars.
