Pencil Shaving Flower Art

This Designer Uses a Unique Process to Create Realistic Flower Art

Artist and designer Haruka Misawa has created an ingenious method to produce realistic flower art.

Inspired by the shavings that come off of a pencil as it is sharpened, the designer wanted to replicate this process and turn it into something artistic. She certainly accomplished this with the beautifully delicate and realistic flower art she has created. She creates the flowers by tightly layering colored pieces of paper onto a pencil-shaped cylinder and simply sharpening it in order to produce complex, flower-like designs. She sells these "pencils" whole, which allows buyers to sharpen it themselves and create their own delicate art.

Her unique inspiration and processes are truly a testament to her creativity and her ability to see beauty in mundane things. The end result is an intricate piece of art that was inspired by something that most people throw away without a second thought.
