Nickolay Lamm's Real Barbie Doll Redefines Beauty

The concept of a real Barbie doll has been reinterpreted time and time again, but this one from artist Nickolay Lamm is a rather ordinary doll that’s more representative of an average 19-year-old girl. Since Barbie herself is a full-grown adult woman, this teenage take has a body type that young girls will be better able to identify with.

The 'Lammily' doll bears the tagline "average is beautiful," but average certainly doesn’t have to mean boring. The doll wears minimal makeup, has a natural hair color and promotes a healthy lifestyle with a variety of different outfits, suited for a range of different physical activities.

Currently, lots of people have been asking where they can get their hands on one of Lamm’s "normal Barbies." As it stands, the doll is only a rendering, but the crowdfunding campaign on CrowdtiltOpen, has already exceeded its initial goals by over 300%, meaning that the doll may soon be hitting the shelves.
