Ray Lin Sculpts the Cast of Futurama Hyperrealistically

Maybe you've seen hyperrealistic drawings and paintings of Futurama characters, but Ray Lin has upped the ante by producing these sculpted busts of the famous Matt Groening characters. Choosing to make each creation as true to life as possible, Lin has fashioned these amazing works of art that are as awe-inspiring as they are eerie. I can't look into Leela's cycloptic eye for extended periods of time without being grossed out.

My favorite Ray Lin Futurama sculpture is without a doubt Zoidberg as Lin painstakingly crafted tentacles to go on the face of the zany alien doctor. It almost looks like a gentler version of Cthulhu.

Implications - As technology continues to improve artists' ability to create true to life imagery, artists and consumers alike are now gravitating towards hyperreal aesthetics. In particular, many people are finding pleasure in transforming familiar cartoon characters into hyperrealistic depictions. Companies may consider making hyperrealistic depictions of their mascots in order to satiate consumer curiosity while garnering attention for the corporation.
