Springy Wooden Seats

The Rattatan Stool by Wiktoria Szawiel Sports an Atypical Weaved Pattern

The Rattatan Stool looks like it’s made out of wooden springs. A unique take on traditional rattan furniture, it forgoes the typical weaved pattern for something a little more loopy. Basically, wooden strips have been bent in varying heights to make up the actual seat. Thus, the Rattatan Stool does not have a smooth, concrete surface that a weaved one usually boasts.

Created by Polish designer Wiktoria Szawiel, the Rattatan Stool may look like a mess of folded wood shoots, but it has an overall simplistic aesthetic. According to the designer, "The part of the stool that is made with rattan sticks weights less then 1 kg, because the sticks are extremely light. One rattan stick is not able to hold human body, but more of them together, connected in a certain way create funny and comfortable stool."
