Repurposed Eco Billboards (UPDATE)

A Clever Burt's Bees Billboard Finds New Life as a Rain Catcher

A clever Burt's Bees billboard has been re-purposed as a rain catcher, giving credence to the company's ecological commitments.

The billboard was already notable when it was unveiled back in October 2012. Originally, the billboard showed a woman with rough, crackling skin. Since the billboard was made out of thousands of Burt's Bees coupons, the ad would slowly reveal a smiling woman with smooth skin as passersby helped themselves to the coupons.

Now that the billboard has served its initial purpose in Minneapolis, it has been donated to the Durham School of the Arts in North Carolina as a rain catcher. The billboard is able to collect up to 6,300 gallons of water annually, which will be used to help grow a community garden near the school.

It's really nice to see a company like Burt's Bees not just talk a big game about social good and environmentalism, but backing it up with actions like this one as well.
