Railroad Wine Racks

Rail Yard Studios Preserves the History of America's Railways via Upcycling

The Railroad Wine Rack is exactly what it sounds like: a wine rack made out of old rail ties. Rail Yard Studios is a design studio founded by two men with a passion for preserving the legacy of America's railroads, and that passion has led them to create everything from railroad coat racks to this historic creation.

According to Rail Yard Studios, the Railroad Wine Rack is made up of "sixteen pieces of rail from the Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad Company circa 1908." The wood is golden oak and each piece is individually numbered using a railroad tie dating all the way back to 1925. Even if you aren't into trains, you have to admit that this wine rack is pretty badass. I don't think I have ever come across a more functional piece of U.S. history.
