QR Code-Patterned Fashion

Thorunn Arnadottir Integrates Technology with Fashion and Music

QR Coded fashion is a new, but rapidly escalating phenomenon. The QR U? dress was worn by Icelandic artists Kali from the group Steed Lord and has been designed by Royal College of Art graduate Thorunn Arnadottir.

The dress includes QR coding crafted using Swarovski crystals for the QR code design, which smartphones are able to detect. The dress guides the smartphones to the groups website and other features that promote them.

The African beads and the tribal look of the dress are said to reference the online tribes analogized by social networks. "QR U? explores the juxtaposition of self promotion and personal privacy in this new environment," says designer Arnadottir. This stunning dress is the epitome of cutting-edge with its integration the worlds of technology, fashion and music.
