Prague-based architecture studio Scoolpt has unveiled a 43-square-meter 3D-printed house called Prvok, a structure that can be built in just 48 hours and will float on water.
The building process significantly reduces average construction time, material waste, and overall costs when compared to conventional brick buildings. It will be printed layer by layer using a robotic arm, and expected to have a lifespan of 100 years, no matter its surrounding environment.
This 3D-printed home is also designed to be partially self-sufficient, with eco-friendly elements such as a green roof, a recirculating shower system and reservoirs for drinking, utility and sewage water. Adding to its credentials is the claim that it will create up to 20% less CO2 than an equivalent concrete building.
Prvok will go up next month, built on a floating pontoon, with three reasonably small rooms inside – a living room, bedroom, kitchen and a bathroom. All floor plans and exterior design will be fully customizable, as long as you don't mind the 3D-layered asymmetric structure.
