Pink Parking

Car Parks Get Girly

Officials in the Swiss city of Bern are hoping to stop men grabbing the extra large parking spaces reserved for women drivers - by painting them pink! They are also considering adding flowers and other feminine symbols.

There is a serious issue behind the pink scheme - male drivers keep grabbing the reserved parking spaces for women due to help their safety as they were under video surveillance and close to the exits.

Legally it is not possible to stop men from parking in these spaces, and being told off also had no effect. As a last resort, officials are hoping that embarrasment will now solve the problem.
