Automated High-Tech Vehicles

Nissan's Piloted Drive System Includes Radar and Laser Scanners

Piloted Drive is a new and high-tech vehicular system, currently being tested out by Nissan, that offers a whole range of high-tech functions that are indicative of where modern automotive technology is going. These features are set to be tested out in the very near future on the busiest urban roads.

The Nissan vehicles equipped with Piloted Drive are equipped with a whole host of features including millimeter wave radar scanners, cameras, high-speed computer chips and a highly specialized and optimized Human Machine Interface.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of these cars is the laser scanner. These scanners allow the on-board computer to figure out the distance between the vehicle and its surroundings in as many as three dimensions.

The Piloted Drive-equipped vehicles aren't quite ready for full use on the road just yet, but the fact that they can be piloted manually or autonomously means they are sure to be revolutionary.
