Pierre Jeanneret's Designs are Restored by Berluti for Art Basel

Berluti presents 17 beautifully restored furniture designs at Art Basel Miami 2019 -- these captivating pieces were originally the works of Swiss architect Pierre Jeanneret. The furniture was designed in the 50s for schools and administrative buildings in India's Chandigarh.

The silhouettes are sturdy and made to be very comfortable using regional materials at the time -- this includes cane and teak and was made in collaboration with local craftsmen. The updates feature a colorful patina that has been hand-applied for intricate detailing. This is done to "enhance the depth of color and the gentle curves of the soft padding." Van Assche of Berluti selected 18 different colors for the 17 furniture pieces which are inspired by a recent trip to Chandigarh.
