Arby’s Roastburger used a clip of Phil Hansen painting a portrait of the Mona Lisa with the grease from about fourteen hamburgers. Phil Hansen’s art is as much about process as it is about outcome. But in this case, he was just helping Arby’s make the point that roasted burgers have less fat than fried ones.
Hansen is known for his quirky use of method and materials to produce art. He ‘dance-painted’ a portrait of Michael Jackson, used plastic flies to create Obama’s face, nacho cheese for the Taco Bell dog and fake money to make a Bernard Madoff likeness.
