Virtual Pet Dragons

Dragon Federation wants to give everyone the opportunity to have a pet dragon and was funded within eight hours on Kickstarter. The company offers physical dragon eggs with an accompanying mobile app to track the baby pet dragon in his/her progress, help the pet dragon imprint and hatch and help users interact with your pet dragon once it hatches.

The Dragon Federation Expedition Team "discovered" clutches of eggs throughout the Rocky Mountains. The dragon eggs on Kickstarter are from the Mountain Skál species, which are multi-colored with plate-like overlapping armor scales, spines and blunt, rapid retractable talons. In addition to the physical egg, owners will receive the Dragon Federation app -- available on Apple and Android platforms. A team of six developers, designers and programmers came together to build the AR and VR experience for the virtual pet dragon. In the virtual pet dragon's fetal stage, the app allows owners to peer inside the egg, monitor health and growth and establish a bond with their pet dragon. The fetus will react to voices, altitude, sound, time of day, weather and touch through your device. During this stage, the fetus will actually imprint with its owner.

Once hatched, owners use the AR-based app to interact with their pet dragon wherever they are in the real world. The app includes a "Species Guidebook" with details on the pet dragon, its diet (like limestone, granite and travertine), a territorial map with exact location of discovery and live statistics like the dragon’s name, gender and growth progress (to name a few). In 2020, owners will use a Virtual Reality (VR) experience through their own system or at a location-based center to step inside their dragon’s realm where they can touch, feed, train and eventually fly on their dragon's back.
