Pecha Kucha Night

Pecha Kucha is a hip version of show and tell for designers, musicians, academics and artists. The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its unique structure: Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each - giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show. The presenters come from different disciplines: Art, Design, Fashion, Architecture, Communication, Music, Photography, Cinema, Multimedia, Advertising and Anthropology.

The word Pecha Kucha is Japanese for the sound of conversation. Pecha Kucha Nights in Beunos A was devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (KD Architecture), was conceived in 2003 in Tokyo as a place for creatives, academics and entrepreneurs to meet, network, and show their work and projects in public.

Other Vol. 2 presenters are: the art group “Mondongo”, the fashion designers “Hermanos Estebecorena”, the humorist “Liniers”, graphic designers “Jopo de Gomina” and the architect “Clorindo Testa” among others.

Pecha Kucha has tapped into a demand for a forum in which creative work can be easily and informally shown, without having to rent a gallery or chat up a magazine editor. This is a demand that seems to be global - as Pecha Kucha Night, without any pushing, has spread virally many cities across the world: London, Amsterdam, Los Angeles, New York, Helsinki, Buenos Aires, Prague, Oslo, Glasgow, Stockholm, Shangai, Vienna, San Francisco, Belfast, Beijing, Bern, Bogotá, Groningen, Hobart, Lagos, Manchester, Melbourne, Newcastle, Rotterdam and Sydney.

The PKN Buenos Aires: - Vol.02 will be held on 3 October 2006 at Ciudad Cultural Konex in El Abasto neighbourhood, launched by May Groppo together with Brío from Grupo Konex.
