ALDI is Launching Wines in Paperboard Bottles in the UK

ALDI has announced new paper wine bottles for its private label libations to help reduce the carbon footprint of its products and prioritize sustainability.

The brand is introducing its Cambalala South African Shiraz and Cambalala South African Sauvignon Blanc in paper bottles that's reported to be five-times lighter than conventional glass. The paperboard in the bottles is 94% recycled to further increase the eco-friendly nature of the packaging. The wines are priced at under £10 each to prioritize accessibility for consumers seeking out sustainable alcohol products.

Managing Director of Buying at ALDI UK Julie Ashfield spoke on the paper wine bottles saying, "Our Buying Teams are continuously thinking of how we can evolve our ranges to offer greater value and greener choices. We are proud to be the first supermarket to launch an own-brand paper bottle, helping to drive sustainable change. Aldi has worked with Frugalpac on the supermarket-first initiative. The Ipswich based company is on a mission reduce the impact of carbon on the planet through engineering sustainable packaging, using recycled paper, that is both light in weight and easy to recycle again."
