Artist Pak Sheung Chuen breathed new life into the Venice Art Biennale ‘09 festival with his ‘Breathing in a House’ installation.
‘Breathing in a House’ is a pretty simple idea: Pak Sheung Chuen rented an apartment and lived in it while working on the installation. While in the apartment, he breathed only into clear plastic bags; tying them closed when they were full and starting a new bag. The apartment quickly filled with his own breath, taking only 10 days to fill completely.
