In order to make a statement about the relationship between animals and people, artist Jo Voysey uses medicine as her painting ingredient of choice.
Each piece of art is made up of different medicines which can range from vitamin C tablets and calamine lotion, to copper sulphate and gastropect. While painting with medicines instead of standard paint can be difficult because of a lack of consistency in textures, drying times and their general unpredictability, the artist manages to create beautifully abstract works of art in which the featured animals may appear as fuzzy but are nonetheless beautiful.
