What better way to celebrate the 29th anniversary of Apple’s Macintosh computers by recreating the original Mac completely out of LEGO?
The near-perfect replica of how the Mac appeared in that first ad nearly three decades ago was accomplished by LEGO maestro Chris McVeigh, who goes by the internet handle ‘powerpig’ on his Flickr account. McVeigh will be posting instructions on how to replicate the LEGO original Mac, as well as selling kits that include all the necessary pieces.
What’s really interesting about this replica is that unlike most impressive LEGO projects, this one doesn’t involve thousands of bricks and an insane amount of time and patience on the part of the builder. It’s beautiful in its sheer simplicity.
Yes folks, it’s been 29 years since the original Mac was released, and by looking at this LEGO replica, the timeless design hasn’t aged a day.
