The Oil Silo Home imagines a world no longer dependent on oil and all of its subsidiaries. It turns obsolete oil repositories into livable structures that foster eco-friendly, healthy and family-oriented lifestyles. With an estimated 49,000 oil silos around the world, this design could help alleviate the stress the human population is currently putting on the world. As it continues to grow exponentially, proper homes are becoming far and few in between. Thankfully, oil is decreasing at a similar rate.
Designed by Berlin's Pinkcloud.dk design studio, the Oil Silo Home is able to accommodate three separate apartments for a total of 12 occupants. Completely self-sufficient, the Oil Silo Home would utilize solar power as well as take advantage of passive heating and cooling. It is also very efficient to assemble and disassemble.
