Canadian designer Philippe Malouin presented his Offset Dining Table at the London Design Festival this year. The furniture piece is constructed from a sturdy solid oak material with cylindrical legs attached in an off-centered design using a threaded connector to evoke a unique visual style. The table was designed for New Zealand-based design studio Resident and its bulky structure requires no beam support or metal inserting, as the oak wood is able to hold its own weight.
Malouin explains that simplicity is always kept in mind, in all accounts of production, design aesthetics and assembly. Once there is a general idea and structure in mind, he reduces it down as much as possible to have what he explains as "as little design as possible." The Offset Dining Table is just that with its minimal structure, design and construction.
