Off-Grid Stone Residences

This Off-Grid House Is Made From a Volcanic Rock Material

'Casa Caldera' is an off-grid house located near the US-Mexico border that was recently re-designed by DUST to be a secure and sustainable vacation home.

The house is made of "LavaCrete" -- a material made partially from volcanic rock -- and is camouflaged by the nature surrounding it. The off-grid house features a sleeping area, a dining area, a lounge, a kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Heat comes from its stove and a fireplace, while windows are small to prevent overheating in the summer. The highly secure vacation home boasts secure, metal doors and is bathed in natural light throughout the day.
