H&M and Danone-Aqua Team Up to End Plastic Pollution

Fast fashion giant H&M has teamed up with bottled water brand Danone-Aqua in an effort to end ocean plastic pollution in Indonesia -- voted the second largest producer of plastic waste globally.

The two companies are joining forces for the Bottle2Fashion initiative and will soon launch a collection of children’s clothing made from plastics collected along the Indonesian cost. Transforming waste into a usable textile, the companies -- both criticized for their non-sustainable business models in the past -- are taking action against plastic pollution while aiming to educate their consumers.

"Having re-directed almost 130 tonnes of plastic bottle waste from waterways since 2017, the project partners have vowed to double down on their commitment and will create new products for sale under a worldwide campaign called Cleaning Up for the Future, which vies to boost consumer awareness on the issue of ocean pollution."
