'Oaklavia' is a concept that typically originated in Bogotá, Columbia with a concept called 'Ciclovía.' The celebration involves temporarily closing down streets to automobiles so that pedestrians and cyclists can enjoy a car-free party.

On June 27 in Oakland, California, 'Oaklavia' closed down 2 miles of streets so that the community could take part in fun activities including sports, dancing and music. Hopefully 'Oaklavia' will be the first of many for Oakland!
