Nokia Research Center Turned A Wall Of Ice Into Touchscreen Display

The researchers at the Nokia Research Center in Finland have built an interactive touchscren display made of ice. Using 25cm-thick river ice cut into 50cm square blocks, this icy surface was blasted with a heat gun to induce a smoother texture.

The big guns were brought in when researchers implanted infrared emitters and detectors into the cold structure, enabling touchscreen abilities. The researchers at the Nokia Research Center cleverly dubbed their experiemnt as Ubice or ubiquitous ice.
