The Leaf electric car is literally chasing glowing reviews with this paint job that causes it to glow green in the dark. The paint was designed in collaboration with inventor Hamish Scott, famed for creating the Starpath glow-in-the-dark spray for footpaths and roads.
Part of the reason Nissan agreed to have its much-praised Leaf sheathed in this high-tech paint is to promote the fact that a lot of Leaf drivers have taken to installing solar panels at home and charging their cars for free.
Amongst the active ingredients in the paint is strontium aluminate, an odorless and inert compound commonly used in other glow-in-the-dark materials. This paint absorbs UV energy when it's light out and can then glow for eight to ten hours in the dark.
Incredibly, the glow-in-the-dark paint job doesn't make the Nissan Leaf electric car feel any different to touch.
