Interactive Bubble Installations

Nishida's Surreal Bubbles Change Color as They React to Music

In the hopes of making a lasting impression, Los Angeles-based design firm Mack Sennett Studios has enlisted the help of renowned Japanese artist Hidemi Nishida in creating a surreal, interactive and most importantly, fun environment in honor of the VIP Kick Off Party for the 2013 FYF festival.

The interactive installation is an entire ceiling of giant bubbles covering the 4,700 square foot space. To further enhance the interactivity and visual aesthetics of the giant plastic volumes, Nishida makes the surface of the bubbles vary in color and brightness as they interact and modify themselves according to the music playing in the room.

The bubbles vary in height, ranging from 6 feet above ground to 13 feet in the air. As the giant LED plastic clouds bounce across the party, it creates a rippling effect that is surreal and peaceful at the same time.
