Yale Research Teams Have Perfected the Mobile, Easy-to-Use NFC Lock

Apparently, Yale has a locksmithing department (they seem to research everything over there) and it has just completed work on their newest invention, the NFC Lock.

With 3D printing technology booming by the minute, a future wherein people simply photograph your car keys and duplicate copies isn't far-fetched. As a safeguard, you'll probably have to install an NFC lock -- or something similar -- in the coming years. The idea is straightforward: Install the digital padlock on your door, download the corresponding app and just swipe your phone by the handle! An added layer of security exists in a password for the application, in case your smartphone is lost or stolen.

Secure information is passed from your gadget to the lock in milliseconds, and you're in. Just remember to keep your iPhone charged, because you might find yourself locked out.
