Cavernous Chinese Cultural Centers

This New Cultural Center's Design is Inspired By Nature

Shanghai, China-based design studio Neri&Hu has gone ahead and cup with a unique design for the Performance and Exhibition Centre, a new cultural center situated in the city.

What's great about this new cultural center's design is the fact that it is inspired largely by natural formations such as rocks and tree canopies. This is most clearly visible in the central exhibition hall of the facility, which makes use of stone-inspired color schemes. The interior of this new cultural center also features several minor elements that are inspired by the branches and of trees.

Architects Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, who oversaw the conception and creation of the designs, aptly describe the interior of this new cultural center as something that "draws inspiration from landscape to create a nature-like environment that provides retreat from the heavily built context and visual overload of contemporary culture."
