Dancing Mosaic Spreadsheets

Excel is Fun with This Video from MysteryGuitarMan

Spreadsheets are often synonymous with boredom, but the MysteryGuitarMan changes this notion with his latest video. Entitled 'Stop-Motion Excel,' the film shows how the Microsoft Excel program can not only be used for accounting and data analysis, but for video production as well. Using approximately 730 spreadsheets, YouTube videomaker MysteryGuitarMan, who is also known as Joe Penna, ingeniously recreates his vivacious dance moves and guitar playing in this mosaic-formed rumba number.

Penna posted a behind-the-scenes video explaining the tedious process, which includes everything from filming the danceable number to taking the reference screenshot and transferring it as pixels on the Excel spreadsheet. Despite only lasting one minute, the film is filled with color and frenzy making the dull, white spreadsheet come alive. The unexpected outcome is sure to reach viral status as it opens the imaginations of viewers.
