Handheld Chemical Testers

The MyDx Device Tests for Pesticides Through Your Smartphone

MyDx is a small handheld device that attaches to your phone and works through a downloadable app. Users can place small objects such as food or drugs in the device, which then tests the pesticides and detects any other harmful substances in the products.

Right now the device is being marketed for people who legally use weed for medical use. Harmful products can always leak into marijuana, so this prevents any nasty side effects from using the drug. Another use is for travellers. When in foreign places it's tough to tell the safety of many food products. Throwing a few vegetables into the MyDx could prevent a days worth of food poisoning and some uncomfortable visits to the toilet. The project has reached its goal on Indiegogo, so hopefully commercial production will begin shortly.
