Draped Stone Resorts

'MuWeCo' Features a Cloth-Like Roof Design

Many of the most marvelous works of architecture are those that manage to transcend the materials from which they're built, and MuWeCo is a great example of that concept in action. The resort in the foothills of Luo Fu Shan range in Sichuan province, China, has a roof with elegant swoops that mimic the gentle curvature of cloth draped over a skeletal frame, yet the roof is built out of solid stone and hardwood.

Despite this impressive effect, the appearance of MuWeCo's roof completely changes depending on one's view. Seen from a different angle, the roof's curves disappear, getting replaced with sharp angles. These angles are inspired by the surrounding mountain range, connecting the resort's guests with the natural landscape.
