The Musical Bike Rack is the first of many fun projects that will lighten up a bustling metropolis. Installed by George Zisiadis, an artist living and working San Francisco, California, it was inspired by his recent published work, 'Urban Imagination.' This book is comprised of playful sketches that show how everyday objects can be spruced up to make daily living much more light-hearted.
In this case, the Musical Bike Rack was made using a typical U-shaped rack and a gong. The latter was attached to give the unused underside a bit of 'micro-interaction,' as the designer puts it. It might have been up for only a couple of hours, but it provided passersby with a nit of cathartic release.
