Punny Millennial Book Characters

These ‘Mr. Men’ Books Mock Current Social Culture Lifestyles

Artist and humorist Dan Zevin collaborated with illustrator Dylan Klymenko in creating a series of parody-inspired 'Mr. Men' books. The pun-inspired series takes the classic style of the Mr. Men originals and transports it into today’s cultural norms.

The hilarious Mr. Men books feature new titles such as ‘Mr. Selfie,’ ‘Little Miss Basic’ and ‘Little Miss Overshare.’ The books mock the way the millennial generation carry themselves today. According to the author, these stereotypes are not very different from previous generations. The author states that "All of the traits these characters display existed well before millennials and the Internet, but tech has given those traits new avenues through which to materialize that feel very current and like they belong to millennials."

Taking common lifestyles and placing them into a quirky book allows society to grapple with the current statistics. These books address the way millennials are seen due to the Internet. While the terms and mediums of expressions have evolved, the mannerisms are consistent across numerous decades.
