Italian pen maker Montegrappa is doing its part to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's historic space flight with the new Montegrappa Yuri Gagarin collection. The collection is made up of two pens each paying homage to both Gagarin and the former USSR.
The detail of the silver and gold pens in the Montegrappa Yuri Gagarin collection is top-notch and would more than likely meet the approval of the history-making cosmonaut. The pens each feature an engraving of Gagarin carved in bas-relief ringed by planets and other symbols of outer space. The cap of the pen has the coat of arms for the USSR on it and the pocket clip is designed to look like the USSR's monument to Gagarin.
Montegrappa is creating two styles of pen, rollerball and fountain, with each seeing limited release. Their will be 1,961 silver rollerball and fountain pens made with the 18k gold fountaina and rollerball pens seeing a much more limited release with only 50 apiece.
